It’s a short month we’re starting, so you better have your time management skills up to snuff. Keep one eye on your calendar and the other on your planner, so you don’t get caught short as February comes to an end early.
You can thank the adoption of the Gregorian calendar for having to step up the pace to cram a full month’s worth of activity into 10% less month. February was selected as the time to adjust an imperfect calendar… it came out on the short end. The adoption of that calendar was somewhat the result of a disagreement between the religious and political powers of the day. You’ve heard it said that every battle has a loser? Well, February was the victim.
But this month did get a few perks. It got George Washington’s Birthday and Valentine’s Day – at least one of which is a perfect opportunity to show your significant other just how much you care. And don’t fail to take the time to do so, if you expect to enjoy any peace and quiet.
In some areas, February is the coldest month of winter, although it’s considered a great time to head for the beach and toss some shrimp on the barbie, Down Under. Amazing what a little difference in geography can make, eh?
If you’re a sports fan, you may find February to be a bit of a let-down, as professional sports events are a bit sparse this month, compared to others. But there are plenty of other activities available to you, regardless of where you’re located. One universal consideration for the married men, for instance, might be to chip away at that honey-do list.
At the very least, if you’re stricken by the cold, stay inside and watch some television. It may not be considered productive, but then, neither is frostbite.
